Strand Book Store

 The Strand has been New York's best-known independent bookstore since 1927 and stocks more than 2.5 million new, used and rare books at its Broadway store near Union Square. Its slogan, '18 Miles of Books', is a city institution, and its sidewalk bargain carts are a landmark in their own right. The third-floor Rare Book Room hosts frequent author events and talks.
