Completed in 1856, the star-shaped Halifax Citadel is a National Historic Site operated by Parks Canada on Citadel Hill above the downtown core. Costumed interpreters of the 78th Highlanders bring the fort to life, the Noon Gun fires daily at noon, and the grounds offer sweeping views of the city and harbour.
